One flat price, whether you publish 200 items or 20,000

Last updated:

Hosted Builder is $1499/year, billed annually. It does not increase because you added items, pages, filters or visitors, and there are no per-seat charges. Most publishing tools charge you more the more you publish, which is a strange way to price the exact thing you are trying to do.

The incentive problem with metered pricing

Per-page, per-record and per-visitor pricing all punish success. You end up deciding not to publish a category because of what it would add to the invoice, which means the pricing model has quietly started making your content decisions for you. For a product whose entire premise is publishing a lot of pages, that would be self-defeating.

What the price covers

One workspace with the editing interface, your catalog, and the ability to export the whole site as files whenever you want. Optionally, running it live on your own domain instead of exporting. Item counts, page counts, filters and traffic are not metered, so the number does not move as the catalog grows.

What is not included

Your own hosting if you export. Your domain registration. Content work, meaning writing, photography and getting your data clean. If you would rather have that done for you, that is a separate scoped conversation rather than a bigger tier, because the effort depends entirely on the state of your data.

The refund, plainly

There is a seven-day full refund if you have not downloaded a static export. Downloading the export is the point at which you have taken the deliverable, so that is where the refund window closes. It is stated here so it is not a surprise buried in the terms later.

Why the number is on this page

A pricing page you have to request access to is telling you the price depends on how much they think you will pay. This one is published, it is the same for everyone, and you can do the arithmetic before you speak to anybody. If you want a scoped build instead of self-serve, that is a real conversation with a real quote. Before any of that, hvce reason free pilot costs nothing.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free tier?

No. There is no free plan and no self-serve trial. If you want to see it with your own data before paying, ask about the pilot.

Does the price change as my catalog grows?

No. Items, pages, filters and visitors are not metered.

What if I need more than one site?

The plan covers one workspace. More than one is a conversation rather than a checkbox, so get in touch.

How is it billed?

Annually, by card, through Stripe. Sign-up is self-serve and your workspace is created immediately, with no approval queue.

What happens if I stop paying?

Editing, building, exporting and live hosting stop at the end of the term. Anything you already exported is yours and keeps working, because it is just files.
