What it is

The Arturia DrumBrute Impact is an all-analog drum machine with 10 fixed instrument voices, each built around a dedicated analog circuit board. Arturia introduced the DrumBrute Impact in 2018 as a companion to the 2016 DrumBrute, offering the same core analog synthesis character in a simpler, more affordable package.

There are no samples and no digital processing in the audio path: every sound is generated by analog oscillators, filters, and envelope circuits. All 10 voice circuits are permanently installed; there is no mechanism to swap, reconfigure, or replace them.

Each voice has dedicated panel controls including at minimum Level and Decay, with Tone or Snappy controls on specific voices.

The 16-step sequencer supports a "Beat Roll" performance button (triggers rapid-fire repetitions at user-selectable rates of 8th, 16th, 32nd, or 64th notes for the duration of the hold) and a "Chain" function that links up to 16 patterns in sequence, extending the effective sequence length to 256 steps. Design context

The Arturia DrumBrute Impact was introduced as a stripped-down version of the 2016 DrumBrute. The original DrumBrute offered 17 instrument voices, individual outputs per voice, and a Steiner-Parker filter on the mix output. The Impact reduces the voice count to 10, removes the individual outputs and the output filter, and retails at a substantially lower price.

The DrumBrute Impact competes in the same segment as the Behringer RD-8 (analog, no samples, affordable) but offers a different voice architecture: original Arturia designs rather than recreations of a specific vintage instrument. Two independent kick circuits allow layering or blending different low-frequency characters, and the clave, tambourine, and cowbell voices extend the percussion palette beyond the standard TR-808 layout.
